I love physical fitness. I love to run, kayak, hike, swim, waterski, just being outdoors. I actually enjoy watching the sunrise while running along a trail, I'm just funny that way. I began my yoga practice at the recommendation of a physical therapist who was working with me on some minor repetitive stress injuries caused from a lifetime of running and poor stretching habits. I was a bit intimidated at first (I'm not what you would call flexible), but once I began to feel the physical benefit I knew that this was something I needed, the ultimate cross-training, something which would help me to continue to do all the things I love without pain. And isn't that what we want? To do what we enjoy doing without discomfort.
I generally teach a slow form of vinyasa flow, taking time to get the very most out of each asana, posture. I feel this is a safe, steady way to build strength, flexibility and balance.
I am also certified to teach Yoga Tune Up®, an innovative fitness system which combines yoga and body therapy in a very anatomically specific format. For instance an entire class would focus on hips or shoulders or core work. Yoga Tune Up® really gets to the nitty gritty, working with the specific problem areas of our bodies. No yoga experience is necessary to participate in a Yoga Tune Up® class.
